چکیده

This paper investigate the thermophysical properties of liquid as well rapid solidification Al5.0Mg0.2Sc alloys with 3.0 and 6.0 Li wt% by discharge crucible, Impulse Atomization techniques respectively. The crucible method, allowed a simultaneous determination density, surface tension viscosity function temperature. While density are found to decrease content, increases due short-range ordering occurring in intermetallic phases. In order determine their characteristic temperatures, powder generated were investigated using Differential Scanning Calorimeter, while microstructural observations chemical analyses conducted scanning transmission electron microscopy energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. To study influence on phase formation these alloys, diffraction patterns microscopy, synchrotron measurements carried out. microstructure revealed precipitations Al3Sc Al2MgLi phases both alloy compositions. addition, AlLi precipitates observed Al5.0Mg0.2Sc6.0Li alloy, which is agreement diagram.

CASTABILITY OF Al-Li-Mg AND Al-Li-Cu-Mg ALLOYS

The objective of the present work is to study the casting characteristics of various A1-Li alloys, which include fluidity and strengths of the alloys and their interaction with cast molds. Materials investigated are Al-Li-Mg and Al-Li-Cu-Mg alloys with Li content of 2.5 wt%. The results show that sand molds with resin binders are good for A1-Li casting. Ceramic coatings can further reduce the m...

Effects of Li additions on precipitation-strengthened Al–Sc and Al–Sc–Yb alloys

Two Al–Sc-based alloys (Al–0.12Sc and Al–0.042Sc–0.009Yb, at.%) and their counterparts with Li additions (Al–2.9Li–0.11Sc and Al–5.53Li–0.048Sc–0.009Yb, at.%) are aged at 325 C. For both base alloys, the addition of Li results in greater peak hardness from incorporation of Li in the L12-structured a-Al3(Sc,Li) and a-Al3(Sc,Li,Yb) precipitates, and a concomitant increase in number density and vo...

The Texture Behavior of Al-Mg-Sc Alloys

Three alloys of Al-Mg with and without scandium are cold worked at different percentage and then annealed. The texture behavior of the alloys is studied by X-ray diffraction technique. The X-ray diffraction analysis is done using a PHILIPS PW1830 diffractometer with Cu-Kα radiation. It is found that the addition of scandium in Al-6Mg alloy influences the development of texture. The cube texture...

THERMAL ANALYSIS AND KINETICS OF THE PRECIPITATION IN WROUGHT Al-Mg, Al-Mg-ScAND Al-Mg-Sc-Me (Me=Zr, Ti) ALLOYS

Precipitation behaviour of wrought Al-6Mg alloys with ternary scandium and quaternary zirconium and titanium has been studied. Hardness measurements and resistivity studies are employed to assess the precipitation behaviour of scandium doped Al-6Mg alloy without or with quaternary additions of zirconium and titanium. Further, the kinetics of precipitations are studied by differential scanning c...
